Shimano's Deore 9 speed cassette has been developed using computer designed tooth configuration resulting in smooth shifts even under load due to contoured shift gates given crisp and light action allowing more efficient energy through close ratio gearing with finer cadence control.

The sprockets have been drilled and cut away this allows weight saving without reducing rigidity and then finished in a tough nickel finish to help against wearing and corrosion.
